17-20 June 2019 the 1st Week of Russian Cinema was held in Singapore. It was the first event of this format to introduce Singaporean audiences to the best of the milestones in Russia-Singapore cultural cooperation.

A total of over 3,000 people attended the screenings, including both citizens of Singapore and tourists and members of diplomatic missions. Within the framework of Film Week the audience were presented films of a variety of genres: historical dramas « Baltic Tango » and «Soldier», comedies « Once Upon a Time » and «I am losing weight» and, finally, a real Russian fairy tale « Last Knight ». Each of the films found a special resonance in the hearts of the viewers, many of whom attended all the screenings without missing any premiere.

The People’s Artists of Russia Fedor Dobromoratov and Pavel Chukhrai took an active part in the events of Cinema Week; Filmmaker, creative producer «Walt Disney Company of CIS», Honored artist of Russia Vladimir Grammatikov; President of the National program «In the circle of family», director, actor and author of the festival «Ice Moscow» Alexander Kovtunets and other actors of the film industry. Artists and directors not only performed in front of Singaporean audiences, but also gave a number of interviews for print and online publications, held a master class at the Foreign Promotion Center of Russian High-Tech Companies and Presentation of Investment Projects, have been able to establish contacts with their Singaporean counterparts.

In view of the apparent success and warm reception of the Singaporeans, the co-organizers of Film Week decided to make the event an annual event.
