New Singapore-developed device for diabetics measures long-term average blood sugar levels within 6 mins.

A locally developed device for diabetic patients can measure their three-month average blood sugar levels within six minutes, instead of the few days it could take now. NHG Polyclinics, the primary care arm of health cluster NHG Health, and local medical equipment firm SG Diagnostics have developed the Rapid HbA1c Point-Of-Care-Test for Improved Care.

Gardens by the Bay enhances its sustainability drive by expanding its solar power system.

Gardens by the Bay, in collaboration with renewable energy provider EDP, has completed a major solar panel installation. The upgraded system, boasting a capacity of 1.08 megawatts-peak from more than 1,700 panels, will now supply clean energy for part of the park's electrical needs, marking a significant step in its sustainability agenda.

Singaporean students have achieved a record medal win at the International History Olympiad in Paris.

A team of eight students from various schools in Singapore competed against over 400 participants at the International History Olympiad in Paris. Their outstanding performance included multiple gold medals in both individual and team categories. The Singapore team’s total tally of 27 individual medals consisted of 14 gold medals, five silvers and eight bronzes, placing it fifth out of 61 teams.

New online tools by SkillsFuture Singapore help companies plan and curate staff training.

SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) launched new online tools, TalentTrack and TalentTrack+, on August 18 to help companies inventory employee skills, identify gaps, and chart career pathways for development. Over 7,500 employers had already used the beta version in May and June 2025 to gain workforce training insights.
