Singapore ranked 2nd in The Economist’s annual list of the world’s richest countries.
To make that list The Economist ranked 178 countries using three measures: GDP per person at market exchange rates, purchasing-power parity (or PPP) and one more yardstick, that accounts for both local prices and hours worked. Switzerland comes top, with average earnings above $100,000 last year. Singapore and Norway follow, at $90,700 and $86,800, respectively.
