The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has launched the Talent Accelerator Programme (TAP), a S$200 million initiative to support Singapore’s media industry. The initiative will run for three years, and will focus on “global distribution” and “genre-driven intellectual property (IP) development”.

Make-A-Wish Singapore launches campaign to raise $350,000 by Dec 31.
The charity, which grants wishes for children with critical illnesses, launched its annual Santa Race for Wishes 2025 campaign, a virtual walk-run-cycle challenge, on Dec 1. Registration is free and includes a personal fund-raising page for participants to rally support for children awaiting their wishes. All proceeds go directly towards fulfilling the wishes of more than 250 children.

Singapore invests S$37 billion in RIE2030 research plan; semiconductors, ageing among focus areas.
In a five-year master plan, Singapore has set aside S$37 billion for research and innovation in key economic sectors such as semiconductors, and priorities such as active ageing. Released on Friday (Dec 5), the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2030 plan marks a 32 per cent increase from RIE2025’s S$28 billion.

New task force set up to support those with disabilities.
A new task force will be set up by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) to strengthen support for people with disabilities and their families across life stages. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced this on Dec 5 at the official opening of Vista, a four-storey block at the Enabling Village, which provides more space for services for those with disabilities after they turn 18 and age out of the system. This includes a simulated HDB flat living environment to help them learn how to live independently.
